The bike
Before coming to Motala to participate in any of the Vätternrundan races, your bicycle needs to be in good and serviced condition. Check that the gears and brakes are functioning properly and that the tires and tubes are not dry or cracked. You are responsible for ensuring that your bicycle is equipped according to Swedish law (read more at transportstyrelsen.se).
Functional front and rear lights, as well as approved reflectors, must be used if your starting time is between 19:30 and 03:00. The same applies if you anticipate reaching the finish after dark.
Only regular two-wheeled bicycles are allowed in our races. Tandem bicycles for a maximum of two people are permitted, with both riders being registered for the race and facing forward. The ends of the handlebars must be plugged. So-called bar ends are not recommended as they may catch on someone or something. We recommend the conventional handlebar known as “bockstyret.” Fully covered wheels are not allowed in Vätternrundan races, and the maximum height for high-profile wheels is 60 mm.
