Want to experience Vätternrundan from the sidelines and cheer on our cyclists? We’ve put together a list of the best spectator spots where you can follow the race easily with other visitors and enjoy the surroundings.
Keep in mind to plan your journey to avoid the sections where the race passes when traveling to and from the spectator areas. Feel free to use our maps and follow the on-site signs and directions.

Start and Finish, Motala
In the heart of Motala, the lakeside city of Östergötland, the recreational race starts and finishes. Experience the buzz and visit partners, exhibitors, and local restaurants and shops. The start is on the hill after Stora Torget, and the finish is on the promenade next to Motala Folkets Hus and restaurant Sjöbris. The start will take place between June 13 at 19:30 and approximately June 14 at 13:30. 12:30. he cyclists will finish between 04:00 and midnight on June 14, when the finish line closes.
Vadstena
Here, you walk through history with its cultural and historical landmarks. The cathedral where Saint Bridget is buried and Gustav Vasa’s castle with its characteristic moat, to name a few. Stroll among old buildings and colorful gardens. he first cyclists will pass through the city as early as 8:00 on June 13. Cyclists will continue to pass through until the early morning hours of June 14.
Ödeshög
It is a small village in the middle of the Östgöta Plain. In addition to Ödeshög Church, which dates back to the 12th century, the surroundings offer rock carvings, runes, and a magical view over rapeseed fields and Mount Omberg. Cyclists will pass through here between 20:00 on June 13 and 13:30 on June 14, with a peak between 04:00 and 07:00.
Gyllene Uttern
It is a famous viewpoint, as well as the gateway to the peppermint candy town of Gränna. In Gränna, you walk on cobblestone streets, through beautiful buildings, and an exciting local shopping scene. Many of the peppermint candy shops also show their manufacturing. From the ferry terminal, take the ferry to Visingsö, where you can also enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride. It is likely that the cyclists will pass through between 21:30 on June 13 and 15:00 on June 14.
Jönköping
Småland’s largest city, is a blend of urban energy with a wide range of restaurants, stunning nature with beautiful walking paths and beaches, combined with an exciting history that has left traces in the form of counties, craftsmanship, and matchsticks. Cyclists will pass through Jönköping between 23:00 on June 13 and 16:00 on June 14.
Hjo
The Wooden Town, which is the central locality of Hjo Municipality in Västra Götaland, offers craftsmanship, steamboat rides, and exciting nature activities. The spectator spot is located along the town’s beautiful promenade, and you also pass Sweden’s longest bench, Cyclists will pass through Hjo between midnight and 17:00 on June 14.
Askersund
A beloved holiday destination with its beautiful archipelago, lively harbor area, scenic promenade, and a wide range of activities to choose from. Stjernsund Castle, the local heritage farm, Knalla Mine, and Harge Point, to name a few. Cyclists will pass through here between 02:00 and 20:00 on June 14.
